Capri is one of the most beautiful Island in the world.
Augustus was the first man enchanted by these landscapes. In 29 b.C. he wanted annex the island to Rome possessions. Capri is connected to Naples from daily ferries and hydrofoils runs, but the motor vehicle circulation is reserved only to the Island citizens. From the harbour you can reach the centre of Capri with a common bus or with the funicular, and from there you can admire the Island from the top, dipped in gardens and vines. The hearth of the town and the whole Island is Piazza Umberto I, “la piazzetta”, where sounds, colours and scents are all mixed together. If you just seat and relax in a cafè, you can see the Clock Tower and the beautiful Church of Santo Stefano that with its two domes seems like a mosque. Left the piazza you get trough the medieval district wich comes out in Via Vittorio Emanuele, the streets of wonderful hotels. Near you find the Augustus Gardens that offer an amazing view of the Island and are rich of flowers and a huge number of birds. The island most important building is Certosa San Giacomo, a castle built in the XVI century, now a museum where are exhibited statues of the Roman Empire founded in the deepest water of the Blue Grotto.
